The Summer of Cotton Candy A Sweet Seasons Novel Debbie Viguié Books

I used this for my high school self-contained special education summer school program. The writing is fairly bland, and the character is a typical annoying teenager, but the setting (an amusement park) was relatable and interesting for my students, and they were interested in the storyline of a teenager complaining about her first job. It sparked lots of conversation about dos/don'ts of your first job, and optimistic/pessimistic views on life. I read the paragraphs full of description and had them close their eyes to imagine it, and they acted out conversations between various characters. I would definitely use this book again, even though we didn't get to the end of it.

The Summer of Cotton Candy A Sweet Seasons Novel Debbie Viguié Books Reviews

Great story. The author really know how to hold your attention.
Bought for my 14 year old daughter who says the book is funny and sweet. She liked it a lot.
Good book I liked it very much. I recommend it to the young and old alike.
it was just what I wanted!
I did not read these books myself, but purchased the four in the series for my 12 yr old grandaughter. She loved them and spent evenings in her bunk at camp with her nose in one of these books. She is not an 'avid' reader (wish she was), so they must have been very entertaining for her to have read them all one after the other.
I thought this was a book and series for young adults. On a challenge, I started this book and met Candace, a highschooler who attracts trouble like honey attracts flies. I couldn't put the book down and loved the surprises and humor Debbie Viguie loves to dish out in her books! Soon I had finished not only this book, but all four in the series! They're addicting!
Review by Jill Williamson

Candace Thompson's dad has ordered her to get a summer job and earn money of her own. She gets a job at The Zone, an amusement park where she's a cotton candy operator and salesgirl. Candace starts to make friends at The Zone, including handsome guy who dresses up like the Lone Ranger. She also makes a few enemies. Plus, Candace's best friend, Tamera, who happens to be rich, is upset that Candace doesn't have time for her anymore and is jealous of Candace's new friends. Can Candace learn to balance her new friends with her old? And can she stand up to the enemies she's made at The Zone?

What a fun read! It zipped right by. I loved Candace, and The Zone was so well thought out that it read like its own fantasy world. I can totally imagine going to that theme park! The story was funny in parts, frustrating in parts, and sweet too. I'm curious what's going to happen in Candace's life yet and am going to have to read book two. Recommended!
